Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
My Bible Journal is a Bible reading and personal journaling application designed to help users study Scripture, record personal reflections, manage prayers, and track their spiritual growth.
We value your privacy and are committed to providing a secure and transparent experience. This Privacy Policy explains how information is stored, used, and handled within the application.
1. Information We Collect and Store
My Bible Journal does not require users to create an account or provide personal information to access its core features.
Information you create within the app, including:
- Journal entries and personal reflections
- Prayer notes and prayer records
- Bible bookmarks and highlights
- Memory verses
- Reading plans and reading progress
- Church History and Bible learning progress
- Quiz results, statistics, and achievements
- App preferences and settings
is stored locally on your device.
We do not operate a central database that collects or stores your personal journal entries or prayer records.
If you voluntarily enable Google Drive backup, selected app data may also be uploaded to your Google Drive account as described below.
2. Internet Usage
My Bible Journal uses an internet connection for specific features, including:
- Fetching Bible verse text from bible-api.com and getbible.net.
- Downloading the Asante Twi Bible from our content hosting service.
- Downloading Church History content and Bible quiz questions from our content hosting service.
- Connecting to Google services when you choose to use Google Drive backup and restore.
Bible and educational content may be cached locally after downloading to support offline access.
We do not intentionally include your personal journal entries or prayer notes in requests made to Bible content providers.
Third-party services may process technical information associated with network requests, such as IP addresses, under their respective privacy policies.
3. Third-Party Services
My Bible Journal uses or may connect to the following services:
- bible-api.com: Provides Bible verse text.
- getbible.net: Provides Bible text and related Scripture content.
- Supabase Storage: Hosts downloadable content, including the Asante Twi Bible, Church History resources, and quiz questions.
- Google Sign-In and Google Drive: Support optional cloud backup and restoration.
These services operate under their own privacy policies and may process technical information necessary to deliver their services.
We do not intentionally share your personal journal entries or prayer notes with Bible content providers or Supabase Storage.
4. Backup and Restore
My Bible Journal provides two backup options.
Manual Backup and Restore
You can create a backup file containing supported app data, such as journals, prayers, highlights, and progress.
You control where this file is saved or shared. If you choose to upload or transfer it through another application or cloud storage provider, that service's privacy practices will apply.
You are responsible for keeping manually exported backup files secure.
Google Drive Backup and Restore
My Bible Journal offers an optional Google Drive backup feature.
When you choose to connect your Google account, the app requests the following Google Drive permission:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata
This permission allows My Bible Journal to create, access, and manage its own app-specific backup data within your Google Drive account. It does not grant the app general access to your other Google Drive files.
Google Drive backups are encrypted before upload. The app may also store the encryption key or recovery information within its private Google Drive application data area to make restoration possible without requiring users to manually save a recovery key.
This design allows you to restore supported app data after reinstalling the application or changing devices, provided you can access the appropriate Google account and the backup remains available.
Because recovery information may be stored alongside encrypted backup data within your Google account, the security of that account is important for protecting your backups.
Google Drive backup is optional. You can continue using the app's core features without connecting a Google account.
You may revoke the application's Google account access through your Google Account settings. Revoking access does not necessarily delete previously stored backup data.
5. Data Security and Storage
Your personal journals, prayers, and other supported information are stored locally on your device unless you choose to create or enable a backup.
Google Drive backups use encryption to help protect stored information.
However, no electronic storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We encourage users to protect their devices and Google accounts with appropriate security measures.
Deleting the app, clearing its data, or changing devices may remove locally stored information. We recommend maintaining a usable backup of important entries.
6. Your Choices and Control
You have control over how you use My Bible Journal. You can:
- Use core app features without signing in to Google.
- Choose whether to connect Google Drive.
- Enable or disable automatic Google Drive backup.
- Create manual backup files.
- Restore supported data from available backups.
- Disconnect or revoke Google account authorization.
- Remove locally stored app information by deleting applicable content or clearing the app's data.
Removing information from your device does not automatically guarantee removal of copies contained in previously created backup files or Google Drive backups.
7. Children's Privacy
My Bible Journal does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
The app's Bible reading, journaling, and educational features are designed to support personal and family use.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to supervise children's use of online services and optional backup features.
If you believe personal information belonging to a child has been improperly collected or handled, please contact us.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes to the application, its features, or applicable privacy requirements.
When changes are made, the updated policy will display a revised date at the top.
Significant changes may also be communicated through the application or other official channels.
9. Contact Us
If you have questions, concerns, or requests relating to this Privacy Policy or your data, please contact us.
